My Chemist Facility, Huntingwood NSW

Developed on part of the $29.715 million land acquisition by Charter Hall from Beirsdorf in 2017, within one of Sydney’s most prized industrial precincts, the new My Chemist facility at 36 Huntingwood Drive, Huntingwood, comprises a gross land area of 31,000m2 with B-double access and close proximity to the M4 and M7 motorways.

For the client, CIP, on behalf of the owners, Charter Hall, Costin Roe Consulting completed civil and structural engineering for the My Chemist complex, which included a 2-storey office building to the north-west corner of the site.

Structural features of the project include 20m cantilevered awnings and an impressive 36m clear-span awning over the central loading docks. The northern portion of the warehouse ground floor consists of a suspended post-tensioned concrete slab allowing for an undercroft car park. The main warehouse flooring area is a fibre-reinforced concrete ground slab that is designed to accommodate the automated conveyor system.

With respect to contemporary environmental priorities and to contribute towards improved sustainability and energy efficiency, the main warehouse roof is designed to accommodate the future installation of a solar panel (photovoltaic) array across approximately 30% of the roof area.

Civil engineering works provided for reinforced earth retaining walls, in various locations around the site, which were designed in conjunction with a specialist design and construct contractor.

SCOPE: civil and structural engineering | CLIENT: CIP | GLA: 31,000m2 | COMPLETED: March 2019
