Greystanes Estate is a 156-hectare area within the SEL (Southern Employment Lands). CRC devised the civil engineering strategy to support a proposal by Dexus to continue industrial development in the former quarry. The scope of works initially included the civil design and documentation for the filling of the quarry followed by the design of the estate infrastructure works and detail design of multiple lots to accommodate prospective tenants for Dexus.
CRC has been involved with previous developments at Greystanes Estate including industrial complexes for Solaris Paper and Symbion Health, and was commissioned by DEXUS to report on the civil engineering and storm-water management.
The earthworks aimed to create large flat pads for industrial use, stabilise the quarry walls, and manage stormwater. Recommendations included pad footings on controlled fill or rock, piering for high loads, and comprehensive site management. WSUD principles were incorporated to minimise stormwater pollution, with rainwater harvesting for future use. Flood management ensured that future developments would not be affected by local or regional flooding, with building levels set 500mm above the Q100 ARI flood level. CRC, in conjunction with PSM, provided key recommendations for the site’s development, which has seen successful industrial construction by DEXUS.
