What was once a beautiful old home with water views is now a strata titled block of apartments. Unfortunately, the ground floor slab reinforcement has corroded over time and effectively pushed off the concrete cover to the underside of the slab. The aim here was to save what was left of the slabs, accepting that any reinforcement left was not contributing much anymore.
A series of beams was installed supporting fibrous cement sheets which in turn supported the underside of the slabs which had now been rendered, effectively replacing one method of support (reinforcement) with another (support beams).
