McIntosh Street Chatswood
Chatswood
Again a 1970’s block of units close to Chatswood station, it had badly cracked the walls of some of the units but only at the top floors. The units at ground floor were quite stable.
After investigation it was revealed that the roof slab, being protected by a black membrane, had expanded and contracted over the years, depending on the season, but that there are no slip-joints between walls and slab. The walls had also moved therefore causing cracking.
As most of the stresses had been alleviated it was decided to leave sleeping dogs lie.
